It’s here! The year we’ve been waiting for, with bated breath, has finally arrived!

Now, dont worry! This blog doesn’t contain any of the traditional “new year, new you” noise, and you won’t be getting any pressure from me to make big transformative resolutions or to choose a word for the year.

Instead, I want to share with you a recent blunder I made, along with the promising insight that followed.

A few nights ago, I was chatting with one of my yoga students about all things 2020, when I heard myself mutter, “I think we’re all ready for things to go back to how they used to be.” 

I was referring, of course, to the pre-COVID days of mask-less smiles, warm hugs & cozy group gatherings. You know…the things we all miss!

But as soon as that sentiment slipped from my mouth, I knew it was the wrong one.

We move in one direction…and that’s forward.

To go backwards is to lose the lessons, insight and experiences that helped us grow into who we are today and who we’re on our way to becoming.

Sure, 2020 served up a handsome helping of unique challenges and obstacles – that naturally we’re eager to kiss good-bye!

BUT it also provided opportunities and perspectives that I certainly don’t want to squander.

So, even if I could magically rewind the hands of time, I wouldn’t want to.

I don’t want to!

And, what I meant to say to my yogi (April, if you’re reading 😉) was, “I think we’re all ready to move out of the old and into the new.”

The magic is in the moment and the promise is in the road ahead.

Instead of wishing for how it was, let’s take what 2020 gave us — scars and all — and use what IS as the fuel, the fire, the motivation to propel us forward, into the new, with excitement, enthusiasm and fresh possibility to make this one our best one yet!

Okay? Okay!

P.S. It’s true that the rearview doesn’t show us where we’re going, BUT it does show us where we’ve been. And in 2020, I used the rearview to reflect and reassess, to reduce the things that weren’t serving me well and reprioritize the things that were. I did this in both in my personal life and for my businesses.

That said, the VM blog will transform ever so slightly this year. The content will be more authentic to who I am NOW and more aligned with my intention to share with you in a way that is true to me.

So, here’s what you can expect:

  • Shorter and sweeter blogs, thoughts & emails
  • Simplified recipes; including the quick & easy things I eat on the regular
  • And a sprinkling of small videos and 10-mintue (or less) yoga classes you can try at home

My goal remains to help you EAT, FEEL and – most importantly – LIVE better! And if there’s any way I can do that better, hit reply and type away!
